A wind rating is more than a headline wind speed.
Ask for documentation identifying the exact model, size and installation configuration proposed for your opening. A general wind-speed claim does not by itself establish suitability for the property. The installer should verify the requirements and supporting structure.
Do not add improvised reinforcement or mix components to create an assumed rating. Use the manufacturer’s documented system and appropriate professional guidance.

Confirm who handles permits.
The City of Tallahassee states that new and replacement doors require a building permit. Ask who is responsible for applications and inspections, and include those responsibilities in the proposal. For properties outside city limits, check with the applicable county or municipality.
Keep the product documentation, permit records and final invoice with your home records. Do not assume a replacement qualifies for an insurance discount; ask your insurer about its documentation and eligibility requirements.
